饮料与人生，有着不可分割的密切关系。
There seems to be a close relationship between drinks and a man’s life.
少年多喜欢喝汽水。它甜，变化多。少年不知愁滋味，人生的酸甜苦辣，他独独只尝到甜味。世界在他眼中，犹如味道各异的汽水，缤纷多彩。
When he is a boy, he usually loves soft drinks for their sweetness and variety. He knows nothing of sadness. Of all the tastes of life, his experience is limited to sweetness to the ignorance of all the others. In his eyes, the world is full of colors and facets just as soft drinks are varied in flavor.
进入青春期，他工作了，恋爱了。这时，他的口味，已由汽水转向了咖啡，咖啡亦苦亦甜，也香也涩，有一种成熟的刺激感，符合他复杂多变的心境。这时期，山和水，在他的眼中，非山亦非水。他有奋斗的野心和理想，他有成家的需要和欲望，但是，事业和爱情，都可能带给他一些小挫折；他有时在笑里流泪，有时却又破涕为笑。他患得患失，却又乐在其中。
Youth sees him on a job or in love. Now soft drinks have to give way to coffee, which tastes bitter yet somewhat sweet, at once astringent and fragrant. It gives a stimulating sensation suggestive of growing up toward maturity. That’s why it appeals to a young man who is fickle and moody. At this stage, he has a dim view of the landscape where water and hills blur. He begins his career full of ambition and ideals. On the other hand, he also needs and longs for a home of his own. However, either in his work or in his love affair, there may be small setbacks, for which he is sometimes seen forcing a tearful smile and sometimes smiling through his tears. Considerations of gains and losses seem to him an enjoyment as well as a torture.
中年以后，多爱中国茶。中国茶那般若有若无的幽香，是深藏不露的，它恬淡而隽永，沉实而深刻。它绝不肤浅地刺激你的味觉。然而，喝了，缠在舌上的清香却叫你回味无穷。江山已定的中年人，这时，见山又是山，见水又是水。对生活，他再也没有不切实际的憧憬，然而，他充分领略夕阳的绚烂在黄昏难以久留的道理，所以，他珍惜生活里的每一寸光阴。他的每一个日子，都包裹在一个平淡而又平实的快乐里。
Middle age turns him to Chinese tea, which gives a pleasant scent only discernable off and on. It is very mild and long-standing, deep and profound. It never stimulates the sense of taste but a sip of it will leave a faint fragrance lingering in the mouth. Well settled, he sees the landscape where water and hills are clearly delineated. Free from impractical longings and fully aware of the evanescence of the gorgeous sunset, he cherishes every minute of the day and each day of his is sweetened with simple but real happiness.
老年人，喝白开水。白开水，不合糖精，没有咖啡因，更无茶碱。它极淡极淡，但若细细啜饮，却也能尝出一丁点的甜味来。人生的大风大浪，他看过了；人生的惊涛骇浪，他经历过了；成败得失，都成了过眼云烟。此刻，他安恬地坐在摇椅上，回首前尘，一切的一切，都淡淡如水，如水……
In old age, he drinks plain boiled water, which is devoid of any saccharin, caffeine or theophylline. It tastes insipid yet a slow sipping will doubtless yield a wee bit of sweetness. He has been tossed in life’s storms and taught by rough and bitter experiences to know better than care about failures and successes, which appear to him as transient as a fleeting cloud. For this is the time he can sit comfortably in an armchair letting his mind wander, he is indifferent to all that happened in the past and sees things as plain as water…
