We shout to the high hills:
Premier Zhou –
And the valley echoes back:
“He has just departed, just departed.
Through miles and miles of revolutionary trek
He marches forward, never takes a break.”

We shout to the vast land:
Premier Zhou –
And the land roars in response:
“He has just departed.
Do you not see over the heavy crops of grain,
His beads of sweat from labour still glisten.”

We shout to the forests:
Premier Zhou –
And the waves of pine rumble:
“He has just departed.
The bonfire is still red over the campground,
For the woodsmen are recalling his friendly talk.”

We shout to the great ocean:
Premier Zhou –
And the ocean thunders:
“He has just departed.
Do you not see the capes on the coastguards
Put there by his own hands.”

We search all over the world,
Premier –
On every square of this vast
Land of revolution
Your footprints have made their indelible mark.

Now we return to the heart of our nation,
And before Tiananmen we cry out, choked with emotion:
Pre - mier - Zhou –
The Square answers:
“Ah, softly, softly,
He is receiving foreign dignitaries at Zhongnanhai,
He’s attending a meeting at the Politburo.”

Ah, Premier Zhou, our good premier!
You are right here, right here!

You’ll always live where the sun rises,
