There Is Afield a Dead Deer
There’s afield a dead deer
Wrapped in cogongrass sere.
Loving is the lass fair
Whom the fine man tempts there.
There ’s in the wood scrub low;
There’s afield a dead doe.
Donning cogongrass white,
The lass shines like jade bright.
Gently, gently, I pray!
Pull not my apron, nay!
Make not your hunter bay!
There’s afield a dead deer
Wrapped in cogongrass sere.
Loving is the lass fair
Whom the fine man tempts there.
There ’s in the wood scrub low;
There’s afield a dead doe.
Donning cogongrass white,
The lass shines like jade bright.
Gently, gently, I pray!
Pull not my apron, nay!
Make not your hunter bay!
